Free Spirit is a community boat that will enable people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the ocean, recreational activities and engage in sustainable practices.
It is a proven fact that there are huge mental wellbeing benefits of being out on the water and the relevance to those involved. The "Let’s Build a Boat” project was conceived to provide everyone, regardless of age or ability to access the ocean for leisure, wellbeing and sustainability projects. The purpose was to create a dynamic real project, with purpose, that would have far reaching benefits, not only for learning in the construction and project management process, but also importantly benefiting a wide range of people in the local community.

We’ve partnered with the talented team at Free Spirit to help support Free Spirit in their events and fund raising activities.
We have several fund raising events planned through the year, expect similar vibes to our other events. Great food, live music and fresh beer.

The Black Barn
Charity Clay Shoot & After Party
We’re hosting a party to celebrate the launch of Free Spirit, in the evening get down to The Black Barn for an evening of live music, street food and fresh drinks.
If you enjoy shooting, during the afternoon we’ll be hosting a 50 bird competition shoot.
Purchasing either ticket gets you entry to the evening party. Competition entrants must be 18+.
Purchasing a general admission ticket allows entry all day where you can find our “have a go” stand to try out your shooting skills.

The Black Barn
Barn Dance
Hoedown at The Black Barn with our live country band. Enjoy fresh draft beer and cider paired with street food.
Valid ID required for entry. 18+
How to get there
The Black Barn is situated on Hayling Island opposite the Lidl and is a short 7 minute walk from the bus stop on the 30 and 31 bus routes.
The Portsmouth to Hayling ferry is a great option for those cycling from the city.
We also have some very limited parking at the venue.
Several taxi firms operate around the island however we do recommend booking well in advance.
